Exterior Update: The Big Reveal!
If you’ve been reading along; this project has been a labor of love. I’m happy to show you the reveal!
For the recap, start here and then read here. About 6 years ago, we had a paver patio, firepit, and landscaping with lighting installed; which has served us well. What we needed, was an area to provide shade from our West facing patio. From mid-afternoon to dusk, it was extremely hot on the patio. Now, the patio is ready for day to night entertaining.
Finishing Touches
I still need to add landscaping in the front and back of the gazebo. I’m debating on planting gardenia shrubs, petite boxwoods, or daylilies. Also, I’m thinking of planting climbing jasmine on the front (street facing) side of gazebo. This will be the last step as I’m considering painting the gazebo next year.
We added a conversation set. I knew I didn’t want more wicker or ratton; sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. For the gazebo, I opted for a modern conversation seating set with black frame and off-white cushions. This set was a great return on the investment. It included sofa, 2 chairs, and a coffee table. I plan to refresh the cushions next year changing them to white to go with the black and white bar stools.
Speaking of barstools, on the wish list were the Serena & Lily Riviera bar stools. But with a sticker price of $598 (on sale) for each stool; I found a set of 4 for the same price from Home Depot!
A console was added to hold a wine bucket, bottled beverages, drinkware, or a vase of flowers. I’ve seen on Pinterest, where a mirror was hung over a console outdoors. The plan is to incorporate a mirror as well. I love this because it’s unexpected and it feels luxe!
I finished the seating area with an outdoor rug from Target that brought the color scheme together seamlessly.
When this project started I had a budget in mind. But very quickly it exceeded that budget. As I tell my clients, always account for an additional 20% in the budget for unexpected issues.
I love the way everything turned out and can’t wait to host my first party of the Summer.
