This is the beginning plans for the guest room. I’m sure it will change as I start the refresh - either due to availability of the item or that I changed my mind. The room was inspired by Fixer Upper The Castle primary bedroom. I just loved the room and thought it would be fun to recreate it on a budget. The elements of the inspiration room was perfect for this guest room. The Castle’s bed is what stood out to me. I had never seen a mixed material bed - upholstered and metal that could be considered modern or traditional. Along with the bed, the chandelier was a feature of the room as well. It just looked like a room that I wanted to cozy up in. They painted the walls with a warm charcoal gray and used an antique white on the ceiling and trim.

REALITY

See the in progress photos below, the bed is now in the room. Let me give you a more information on this guest room. This room is at the back of the house which faces West. Therefore, it gets the hot sun in the summer. But it gets the best sunsets in the evening. The room overlooks the patio below. So, I wanted this room to feel relaxing, welcoming, and comforting. The color scheme will be gray, ivory, black.

I love that I was able to find a bed that resembled the bed that Joanna used in The Castle. More importantly, the bed was less than $300 from Wayfair! A total Livable Luxe moment!

Another great find that was Livable Luxe was the chandelier. I found this chandelier at Target for $200! It looks more expensive than $200. I wanted a matte black light fixture and the one fit the aesthetic being a hammered metal in matte black. Now, in full transparency I didn’t care for the white candelabra sleeves. So I spray painted them black to give the chandelier a more cohesive look. It turned out beautifully I think.

Going in the same direction as the inspiration photos, I added a white linen duvet cover, linen sheets, and a linen box spring cover. Personally, I don’t care for bed skirts. At this time, I’m still trying to decide on color for drapes, throw blanket and throw pillows.

To balance the modern bed, I wanted to add a vintage style nightstands with gold lamps with fluted shade, linen drapes, velvet accent chair, and abstract art over console positioned at the foot of the bed. Layer an area rug over the carpet.

A trip to Target, I created the look for the night stand lamps. Another Livable Luxe item that was inspired by the Serena and Lilly Georgia table lamp.

I hope you continue to follow long as the room progresses. I can’t wait to share the reveal. In the meantime, you can shop the look!
